ABOUT PHAD ARTISTS

The painters who traditionally engaged in the profession of phad painting are known as Phad painters or Chitera. Shri Nand Kishor Joshi is leading Phad painter among  other artists of  Joshi lineage of Chhipa caste. His sons Prakash Joshi and Mukut Joshi are also creative artists and successfully following the traditional family routes with modern approach.

Now there are only twelve painters involved in painting this art form. However, Shree Lal Joshi, Pradeep Mukherjee and Nand Kishor Joshi, Shanti Lal Joshi are the most noted artists of the Phad painting, who are known for their innovations and creativity.
